Muhammad Dingyadi, Nigeria’s minister of labor and employment, made the announcement on Monday, not long after the Federal Executive Council meeting that President Bola Tinubu presided over at Abuja’s Presidential Villa.

He made it clear that while his memo was small, it was crucial for the labor sector as a whole. This policy update letter is to inform you that the national policy on employment has been adopted, and that we will now implement and reduce it before sending it to our stakeholders and the IPD.

In light of the fact that the current situation has persisted for so long, the ministry has chosen to begin reviewing the country’s employment policy in an effort to highlight the necessity of formulating fresh approaches to the problems of poverty and unemployment, as well as to provide more opportunities for productive work and gainful employment for Nigerians.

We will be traveling to Geneva for the International Labor Organization meeting in the coming weeks. Being able to assess the national employment policy is something we are quite pleased of and will be happy to share with our international colleagues.
