United will face Athletic Club in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final next Thursday, and they have another injury worry. Matthijs de Ligt was substituted off in Sunday’s 4-3 loss to Brentford.

De Ligt hadn’t competed since April 2nd, so this was his first start of the season. The Dutch defender, nevertheless, was involved in a collision with Bryan Mbeumo and only managed to play for 35 minutes. Harry Maguire came in for De Ligt after he was evaluated on the field.
Speaking to MUTV after the game, United head Ruben Amorim expressed his concerns about the roster for the following year and expressed his hope that the issue was minor. His concerns extended beyond the current match versus Athletic Club.
Amorim expressed his optimism that the situation was not serious in a separate interview with the BBC. Having [Harry] Maguire come on was a gamble we were willing to take.
