A statement from the FBI stated that the suspect was brought into custody in Knightdale at approximately 9 a.m. on Friday.
The News & Observer and the Furuci update had previously reported that on Wednesday, authorities had asked the public for help in finding the perpetrator. The FBI has nabbed Estrada-Hernandez, making him the third person apprehended in connection with the kidnapping.
Two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of assault by pointing a handgun, one count each of second-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a felon are levied against the defendant. These accusations arise from the abduction of 26-year-old Alondra Michelle Benitez De Jesus and her child that occurred on Monday night.
The Buck Branch Drive home of De Jesus and her daughter was reportedly broken into on Monday by three masked, armed men who demanded $1 million. Upon receiving no payment, the trespassers allegedly used duct tape to bind De Jesus’ husband and then made off with De Jesus and her child.
