Established by the United Nations General Assembly on December 17, 1999, and observed every year on August 12, IYD highlights the crucial role of young individuals as the foundation of society, turning global goals into locally driven actions and contributing to a sustainable future.
During the event, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, the Director-General of the NCSP, pointed out that the strengthened collaboration between Nigeria and China is intentionally designed to boost youth involvement in key economic sectors.
He mentioned that the collaborative efforts will encourage inclusion, stimulate innovation and creativity, and enhance human capital development for the advantage of young Nigerians.
The NCSP reiterated its dedication to empowering young Nigerians by generating opportunities within the framework of Nigeria–China cooperation.
Tegbe highlighted that the partnership will open up significant opportunities across vital sectors such as trade, investment, infrastructure, technology transfer, education, youth empowerment, and foreign policy, paving the way for remarkable advancements in the coming decades.
“Through focused programmes, the NCSP aims to involve more young people in its initiatives, facilitate knowledge transfer, and encourage growth in priority sectors.
“In agriculture, technological advancements are boosting productivity and sustainability; in education, they are broadening access to quality learning; and in technology, they are enabling the transfer of innovative solutions.
“These developments, along with skills development and empowerment initiatives, are supported by the growing economic interdependence between Nigeria and China. By positioning the NCSP as a connector and facilitator between Nigerian and Chinese partners, Tegbe
