Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, expressed his preference for Muhammadu Buhari’s government over that of President Bola Tinubu. He made these comments during a discussion on an X Space event called Weekend Politics on Saturday.

“Buhari’s administration is 100 times better than Tinubu’s. Were you starving? We are paying N1 million weekly for electricity (which totals N4 million monthly).
“How many can afford that? Plus, we need to spend around N300,000 on diesel, not to mention food and staff salaries,” Amaechi emphasized.
He continued to express his concerns about the current state of affairs, insisting that Nigerians were in a better position under the previous government than they are now under Tinubu.
“Things were not like this during Buhari’s tenure. Why compare diamonds to gold? This current government isn’t even gold,” he remarked.
Amaechi’s comments come after he switched from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he now collaborates with notable figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
He also committed to supporting the ADC’s presidential candidate, as long as the nominee comes from a transparent and fair primary election.
“In a fair primary, whoever wins will have my complete backing. I will be fully committed to the campaign and will do everything I can to help ADC remove this current, ineffective government.
“I will forgo the coastal road; that road is just for corruption. Electoral reforms are my top priority if I become President. I will implement electoral reforms within my first six months,” he concluded.
