Members of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, part of Sector 3 in Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully rescued Engineer Joshua Saleh, a lecturer from Taraba State University, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS).

Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, shared in a statement that the lecturer was kidnapped by suspected criminals on July 31, 2025, along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari road in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
He mentioned that the troops, acting on reliable and actionable intelligence, along with DSS operatives, initiated a focused search and rescue mission across several key areas, including Kente, Sondi 1 and 2, Yaku, and the Warawa general vicinity.
The statement indicated that during the operation, the troops confronted the kidnappers and engaged them in a fierce gunfight.
“Overpowered by our superior firepower and pressure, the criminals fled the scene, leaving the victim behind,” he noted. He also reported that Saleh was found unharmed and was quickly rescued.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Sector 3, OPWS, praised the troops for their bravery, commending their quick response, professionalism, precision, and effective collaboration with other security agencies during the rescue operation.
