“I haven’t renewed my Nigerian passport, I believe, since the early 2000s,” Badenoch stated. I’ve never really felt like I belonged there.
“I don’t identify with it (Nigeria) anymore; most of my life has been spent in the UK, and I’ve never felt the need to.”
Badenoch noted that while she is still interested in what happens in Nigeria, she has found a more suitable home in the UK, where she resides with her family and party colleagues.
At 45 years old, she was born in Wimbledon, South West London, and returned to the UK after living in Nigeria because her parents believed there was no future for her there.
“I think the reason I came back here was actually quite a sad one, and it was because my parents thought, ‘there is no future for you in this country,'” she shared.
