After two matches, Nigeria topped Group A with four points. Aliyu Zubairu’s squad opened the tournament with a 1-1 tie against the Ghanaian hosts, the Black Satellites.
In their last group stage match, the seven-time African champions cruised to a 4-1 victory over Benin Republic.
With four points after three matches, Niger Republic came in second place in Group B. In Thursday’s last group encounter, they played to a scoreless tie with Burkina Faso. In the other semi-final match, Côte d’Ivoire will take on Ghana.
