On Sunday, the abductees’ rescue was announced by the chairman of the local government area, Adah Inalegwu.

Inalegwu stated that two of the kidnapped individuals were rescued on Saturday as a result of a combined effort by the local police and vigilantes.

His account is that at around 4:00 pm on Sunday, the kidnappers left the eleven victims at Oando village after local youths recruited the help of people from adjacent Kogi State, which he says heightened the pressure.

The head of the local administration went on to say that the victims were rescued thanks to Governor Hyacinth Alia’s logistical support, which increased security monitoring and tracking. In order to facilitate their eventual reunion with loved ones, the victims are first being profiled.

“I don’t have that information right now but will get back when I do,” stated DSP Udeme Edet, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, when approached.
