This response came after a report surfaced, alleging that significant funds were misused by prominent aides of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The government stated that the accusation is currently under judicial review but emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding the truth.

Sanusi Bature DawakinTofa, the Director General of Media and Publicity for the Governor, issued a statement on Monday, asserting:

“Every financial outflow to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies is meticulously budgeted with specific codes clearly outlined in the state’s fiscal policy. Therefore, no individual within government MDAs can manage public funds without a designated purpose.”

He elaborated that the Directorate of Protocol, led by Alh. Abdullahi Rogo, is crucial for logistics, accommodation, welfare, and overseeing the governor’s schedules both domestically and internationally.

He further mentioned that this office also coordinates logistics for VIPs and VVIPs, including the Presidency, foreign dignitaries, and other state guests.

Bature highlighted that over 95% of the Protocol Directorate’s duties involve financial dealings on behalf of the state, but he reiterated that all spending is conducted within the approved budgetary framework.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration will continue to prioritize governance and uphold its commitment to financial prudence, accountability, transparency, and a strict stance against corruption.

The government will not compromise the integrity of its aides due to intentional political sabotage,” he stated. The statement also affirmed the trustworthiness of Rogo, asserting:

“The government has full confidence in the integrity of the Director General of the Directorate of Protocol, Government House, Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo.”

The opposition has been accused of orchestrating these allegations to undermine the government.
